Since the time constraints of the audition process limit the total interview time, students may choose to submit additional video performances (via DVD or private YouTube videos) that include other performance areas such as Multiple Percussion, Drum Set, and/or World Percussion that would enhance their application (this is optional and not required). In addition, each of the four large ensemble rehearsal rooms are fully-equipped with their own set of percussion equipment.Īll prospective percussion majors and minors must demonstrate ability in the three (3) core percussion areas: snare drum, keyboard percussion, and timpani. The facilities for the Percussion Area at Illinois State include the Percussion Ensemble Rehearsal Room, the Percussion Studio and six dedicated percussion practice rooms. This ensemble is dedicated to the development of the performer within a total percussion environment through the performance of medium to large ensemble works of every genre. A solid background in all of the standard percussion instruments is required for participation in the group. Percussion Ensemble is open to both majors and non-majors for credit.
